You may be asking why?
And if I am being completely honest with you I’ve asked myself the same question a million times. Why am I being called to this when I’m starting at an amazing university of my dreams just to leave after a semester. Why God?
Honestly, I still don’t fully have the answers but I do know for certain this is what I am being called to even though it seems to not make sense. The YWAM family I built in Kona is unmatchable and I have honestly never experienced any love like it besides of course the vast and unconditional love of our God. The YWAM community has given me a glimpse of what heaven’s community will look like—it’s beautiful, it’s forgiving, it’s encouraging, and it’s what I imagine perfect must be like.
Although the community there has touched my heart deeply there is even more reasons as to why I love it there. The holy spirit has never been more present in my life than the three months I spent there. The stretch and growth that I experienced throughout those months is something I believe is necessary to truly identify as a child of God. God is doing big things there and I believe my life is a contribute to this mission. The mission to reach the unreachable, uplift the youth through the gospel and our almighty all-powerful God.
The sudden calling to participate in a DTS was very unexpected. I graduated early thinking joining the Kokua program would be a good getaway with God to serve his kingdom and I would return to college in the fall not looking back. This is not the case at all because all I have thought about since I left is how I can go back and it was a good getaway serving God but it was also so much more—it taught me so much I don’t even have the time to type it all out. But the biggest thing it revealed to me is that missions is a calling God has placed on my life since the day I was born. I have always loved people—I love knowing who a person is and knowing that they are a glimpse into who our God is.
